The Memorial Day ceremony at Bethel Cemetery featured Pastor Ryan Petersen as the speaker. Petersen is the pastor of Scandia Evangelical Free Church.
He gave examples of freedoms we have in our country and that they are mostly taken for granted.
Petersen explained that our freedoms and rights “do not come from politicians, they do not come from kings, they come from God.”
Petersen’s address was preceded by Gale Otto and Sue Nelson singing and playing the guitar.
Before the memorial address, a poem was read by Brenda Schneider titled, “To the Vietnam Veteran.” The Garvin American Legion then decorated the crosses and gave the Salute to the Dead.
This was followed by Taps played by Jeff Buyck and his daughter, Evelyn.
