Elle Peterson

Services for Elle “Nana” Peterson, 78, of Tracy will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tracy Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service, and lunch to follow in the church basement. Burial will follow at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery. The Life Remembrance Center of Tracy is handling arrangements.
She died Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., after battling several respiratory issues.
Elle Beret Peterson was born Nov. 4, 1938, to Stanley and Amanda Uggen in Washington, D.C.
On January 1963 she married Winston Peterson in Tracy, and they raised three children together: Sissa, Eric and Per. After graduating from St. Olaf College, she taught home economics at Tracy High School, owned her own yarn shop, a business she ran out of her home in Tracy, and together with Winston owned and operated the popular Kafe Skandia restaurant in downtown Tracy. Elle was also a Welcome Wagon representative and worked various jobs throughout her life, including as a Northrop Seed distributor in southwest Minnesota. She was a member of Tracy Lutheran Church.
Peterson loved to sew in her younger years and also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, watching the Twins and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sister, Jan Johnson of Bloomington, and brother, Kermit Uggen of Mendota Heights; children Sissa (David) Bitton of Lake Maria; and son Per (Tara), also of Lake Maria; grandchildren Alex (Morgan) Bitton of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Galiya Bitton of Lake Maria; special grandfriends Ben, Brady and Natalie; other relatives; and her table-hogging feline friend, Humphrey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband and their son, Eric.
