Louella (Lessman) Lof, 90

Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 at the Faithbridge Church in Park Rapids with the Rev. Ken Polley officiating. Burial followed at the Lake Emma Cemetery, Lake Emma Township, Hubbard County, MN. Jones-Pearson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Louella “Dimps” Grace was born to John and Josie (Knott) Lessman on November 28, 1926 at Tracy, MN and died August 31, 2017 at Essentia Health Medical Center in Fargo, ND at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 3 days.
Louella grew up on her parent’s farm near Tracy and in 1944 moved with her family to a farm north of Park Rapids. She attended school in Park Rapids. In 1944 she and her sister, Edith, took the train to Seattle and worked at Boeing until World War II ended. Edith stayed in Seattle and Louella returned to Park Rapids. On March 22, 1946 she married Roger Edwin Lof at the home of her parents in Lake Emma Township. They lived nearby and then moved to the Lof family home where they remained throughout their marriage. Louella worked at Munsingwear, then Ringer and later in the laundry department at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was an active member of Faith Baptist Church (now Faithbridge Church), the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary and Mantrap Valley Conservation Club Auxiliary. She and Roger also traveled to many states, including Hawaii. Her hobbies later in life included gardening, painting, quilting and other needlework, and she enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together even really difficult ones.
Surviving are her brother, Bill (Grace) Lessman of Lake George; son, Steven (Lu Ann) Lof of Akeley; daughter, Nancy (LeRoy) Condon and daughter-in-law, Sandra Lof, all of Park Rapids; five grandchildren: Julie (Dale) Johanning of St. Cloud, Jolene (Tim) Winter of Holdingford, Dustin (Shelley) Lof of Park Rapids, Forrest Lof of Nevis and Stephanie Lof of Akeley; five great-grandchildren: Nathan and Ryan Johanning of St. Cloud, Jacob and Alex Lof of Park Rapids and Cooper Winter of Holdingford and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roger, in 1988; son, Rodney, in 2013; sisters: Ardena and Edith; brothers, James, Henry, Frank, Warner and Richard; and grandson, Shawn.
