Funeral services for Richard Joseph Hansen will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting officiating.  The organist is Patty LeClaire.  The song leader is LoAnn Hansen with special music by Marissa Hansen.  The pallbearers are his grandchildren.  Interment is at Calvary Cemetery in Currie, MN.

Richard Hansen was born on July 10, 1939 in Tracy, Minnesota to Leo and Mary Leonard Hansen.  He grew up in the Currie area and graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary High School in 1957.  Richard later attended the South Dakota State University Ag Program.
On February 11, 1961 he and Marilyn Mickelson were married at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie.  Following their marriage they made their home in the Currie area. Richard farmed with his father for a time before going to work at the Tracy Elevator retiring after 26 years of services.  Richard also enjoyed gardening and selling the fruits of his labor at area farmer markets.  He was known as the Pumpkin Man.
Richard passed away at his home on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the age of 78.  He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church where he served as an usher for many years.  Richard enjoyed fishing, visiting with friends at coffee, and helping out on the family farm.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Hansen of Currie, MN, seven children and their spouses, Julie and Gary Hanson of Currie, MN, Michelle and Jeff Lammers of Redwood Falls, SD, Kristin and Dave Tiegs of Tracy, MN, Thomas and Heidi Hansen of Rochester, MN, JoEllen and Mike Olson of Princeton, MN, Kari and Steve Meyer of Tracy, MN, and Jodi and Travis Illg of Tracy, MN, 20 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five siblings, and their spouses, Fran and Ray Busch of Fulda, MN, Jim and LoAnn Hansen of Currie, MN, John and Kris Hansen of Currie, MN, Patty and Lawrence Carlson of Westbrook, MN, and Herb and Marsha Hansen of Dovray, MN, and several nieces and nephews and their families.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson, Nicholas Hanson.
