Arlene Bierbaum, age 89, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at her home in New Ulm.

Funeral services were Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Pastor David Nissen officiated. Burial was in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.

Arlene is survived by her daughters, Teresa (David) Shore, Diane (Mike) Groebner; grandchildren, Kate (Amber) Grandprey Shores, Ellen (Andre) Tran, Patrick Groebner, Melia Esparza, Jared Groebner; great-granddaughter, Cecelia Tran; sister, Shirley Nuy; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor William Bierbaum; son, David Victor Bierbaum; sister, Evelyn Johnson; and brothers, Darold and Marvin Sabinske.

Arlene Ida Bierbaum was born October 14, 1931 to William and Esther (Gentz) Sabinske at home on a farm in Garvin, MN. She graduated from Tracy High School in 1949. After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator in Tracy. Later, she moved to New Ulm and worked as an operator for the New Ulm Telephone Company until she retired.

Arlene was united in marriage to Victor Bierbaum on October 7, 1958. Their union was blessed with three children. When Arlene was not working or raising her children, she enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and the crossword puzzle in the daily paper. She also enjoyed old time music, embroidering, and getting potato pancakes at Perkins. Arlene especially enjoyed a spirited game of parchesi. She was active in her church by ringing the bells, singing in the choir, and participating in the circle. Arlene will be dearly missed by those that knew her. Blessed be her memory.
