Keith Gerald Weinzetl was born June 10, 1945 in Tracy, Minnesota to J. Gerald “Jerry” and Virginia (Shaw) Weinzetl. He was baptized at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Currie. He spent many of his summers at his Weinzetl and Shaw grandparents’ homes, as well as his uncle Perry and JoAnn Shaw’s home in Currie. He graduated from Tracy High School in 1963, and joined the U.S. Air Force that same year. In 1965, Keith married Judie (Fork) Weinzetl at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. After the couple moved to St. Louis Park, MN, Keith worked for General Mills, was assistant manager at Perkins Restaurant, and manager of Taco Bell (formerly known as Zapata). He then returned to his first love of driving. He followed in the footsteps of his uncles. He first delivered bakery supplies in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and then he bought his own truck and delivered cooking supplies and Coca-Cola between Minnesota and Michigan. He then sold his truck and he and his wife Judie drove truck for Werner Enterprises for 18 years. After retiring in 2011, he still went back to driving truck for Page One in Slayton. He retired again and still couldn’t stand retirement, so he drove gravel truck for Jeffers Dray Line. Keith was a dog man. He loved his pugs and had several over the years. Buford T. Pusser (better known as Bud) was his most loved. Keith and Judie were million-milers with Werner but so was Bud – he put on a lot of miles in that cab. Keith and Judie had three boys; Troy, Shane, and Derrick. When he was driving, he had to miss a lot of the things they did in their young lives. He has been so thankful for these past years that he has been able to get much closer to them and found out they were pretty wonderful boys.
Keith is survived by his wife, Judie; sons: Troy (fiancée Kim) Weinzetl of Walnut Grove, Shane and Jessica Weinzetl of Rockford, MN, Derrick and Tammy Weinzetl of Howard Lake, MN; grandsons: Brady, Tristan, Austin, Miles, and Logan (fiancée Grace) Weinzetl; granddaughter Avery Weinzetl; great-granddaughter Caroline Weinzetl; stepfather Gene Regnier; and siblings: Cathy Dallenbach, Tim Weinzetl, Jeff Weinzetl, Joe Weinzetl, and Sara Anderson. He is preceded in death by his mother Virginia Regnier, father Gerald Weinzetl, mother and father-in-law Kermit and Frances Fork, brother Tom Weinzetl, brothers-in-law Richard Dallenbach and Norman Fork, and sister-in-law Jean Stoll.
