TMB softball tops Marshall

Stacy LaVoy, Alyssa Lightfoot and Kasey Loeslie each drove in two runs as Tracy/Mlroy/Balaton opened the 2004 softball season with an 8-4 win over Marshall in Tracy.

Megan Anderson pitched the entire game for the Panthers, scattering nine hits and walking none. Anderson was aided by a strong Panther defensive effort .

TMB grabbed a 5-0 lead with three runs in the first inning and two in the second. Marshall rallied in the third, fifth and seventh innings. Though TMB had defensive lapses early, good defense help stop the late Marshall rallies.

"They hit the ball well and kept the pressure on us from the start. They played us tough," said Coach Dave Sogge. He added:

, "We played nervous today-first-game jitters. We go to Minneota Thursday. Hopefully things will be better. We got the big hits with runners in scoring position. They hit shots at us. That was the difference today." commented Sogge.
