Boys host MACCRAY after holiday action
The Panther boys varsity and B-squad basketball teams will open compete in the Wabasso Holiday Tournament Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 29-30.
Wabasso, Red Rock Central and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton are the other participants besides Tracy/Milroy/Balaton.
The boys next home game is against MACCRAY Thursday, Jan. 6.
Girls advance in tourney
Tracy/Milroy/Balaton beat Holy Family 60-53 to advance in the Norwood-Young America Holiday Tournament Tuesday.
The Panther girls play Shokopee for fifth place in the eight-team tournament Wednesday. TMB, who lost their tournament opener with Albany, is now 6-2 on the season.
The led 18-10 at the end of the first period 33-24 at intermission and 51- 42 after three quarters of play.
Tessa Nelson led TMB with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks. Alyssa Kirk had 16 points, and Emily Miller 9. Jenna Schaar scored 8 points to go with her 7 assists.
The Panthers pulled down 27 rebounds to 22 for their opponents, had 6 steals to 14, 14 assists to 10 and had 5 blocked shots. Holy Angels had 8 turnovers.

Albany prevails in Norwood opener
The Panther girls basketball team lost the first game of the Norwood-Young America Holiday Tournament to Albany, 54-51 Monday.
Albany, the eighth-ranked team in its class, improved to 8-1.
We played a good game against a very good team, said Co-Coach Rick Haberman.
The Panthers got off to a slow start and were behind 17-13 at the end of the first period, before out-scoring their opponent by a point the rest of the way.
Tessa Nelson led the Panthers with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and 7 blocked shots. Jenna Schaar added 13 points and Alyssa Kirk 11.
The Panthers grabbed 29 rebounds to 26 for Albany, had 12 assists to 12, 9 steals (Tholen 4) to 10 and turned the ball over 18 times to only 15 for Albany.
The Panther B-squad beat Waconia 49-42.
