TMB golf teams have busy week

TMB vs. MINNEOTA

The Panther boys’ golf team won over Minneota and lost to Lakeview at a triangular held in Cottonwood Monday. The girl’s team was incomplete.

The boys’ team scores were: Lakeview, 189; T/M/B, 199; Minneota, 201.

Scoring for the Panther boys were: Sam Lau, 44; Kyle McIntire, 51; Tyler Christensen, 51; David Schiller, 53. Adam Hoffman of Minneota was the boy’s medalist with a 42.

The girls’ team scores were: Minneota, 198; Lakeview, 213; T/M/B, incomplete. Scoring for the Panther girls were: Cassie Bryant, 55; Nicole Hansen, 56; Jenna Fischer, 57. Megan Kack of Minneota was the girl’s medalist with a 47.

 

TMB vs. WWG

On Thursday the Westbrook/Walnut Grove boys’ and girls’ golf teams swept the Panthers at Tracy. The boys lost 198-171, The boys’ B squad lost 218-205 and the incomplete girls’ team shot a 166 (three golfers) to W-WG’s 245.

The Panther boys’ varsity scoring was: Tyler Christensen, 47; Sam Lau, 50; Kyle McIntire, 50; Jacob Hoflock, 51. Scoring for the B squad were: David Schiller, 50; Chad Cooreman, 52; Mike Lenertz, 55; Ryan Kaup, 61.

“Both Sam (Lau) and Kyle (Mcintire) have been shooting in the low forties except during our meets,” said Coach McIntire. “Both have been having trouble around the greens.”

Scoring for the Panther girls were: Cassie Bryant, 53; Nicole Hansen, 56; Jenna Fischer, 57.

 

TMB vs Pipestone

The Panther boys’ golf team lost to Pipestone at Tracy last Tuesday and the girls’ team was incomplete.

“We have a few girls in the seventh grade who could help our team but I have hesitated to start them in a varsity match until they get a little experience,” said Panther Coach Randy McIntire.

The boys’ team scores were Tracy/Milroy/Balaton 204 and Pipestone 170. Scoring for the Panther boys were: Sam Lau, 50; Kyle McIntire, 50; Tyler Christensen, 50; David Schiller, 57. Paul Baruson of the Arrows was the boy’s medalist with a 37.

The Panther boys’ B squad won over the Arrows 206- 243. Scoring for T/M/B were: Austin Butman, 50; Bo Kirsh, 50: Mike Lenertz, 52; Derek Evans, 54.

The Pipestone girls’ team fired a 243 while the three person Panther squad shot a 151. Nicole Hansen had a 47, Cassie Bryant a 51 and Jenna Fischer a 53. Nicole Hansen’s 47 qualified her as the girls’ medalist.


TMB is close second

The Panther girls’ track team finished second of eight teams at the Fulda Relays held in Slayton Tuesday, while the Panther boys finished sixth.

“The conditions were not very nice to compete in, wet, cool and windy, but some of our kids ignored the weather and turned in some nice races and events,” said Panther Assistant Coach Jenny Kirk. “Our girls finished second as a team. We were originally scored as first, but after reviewing the results we were docked 5 points, thus putting us down to second place by one point. It was unfortunate but accurate.”

The girls’ team scores were: 1) Southwest Christian, 97; 2) T/M/B, 96; 3)MCC, 94; 4) Fulda, 90; 5)Tie: ML-B-O, 85 and Southwest United, 85; 7)Tie:Adrian, 76 and R-T-R, 76.

Hitting, pitching produce two wins

TMB 7 - Minneota 4

The Panther baseball team beat Minneota 7-4 at Tracy in a Camden Conference game April 11. The win gave the Panthers a season record of 3-1 and 1-0 in conference play.

“We hit the ball well and we got good pitching,” said Panther Coach Bill Tauer.

Derek Radke started on the mound for the Panthers and pitched 5 innings giving up 0 runs on 2 hits while striking out 7 and walking 1. David Schmidt pitched the final 2 innings and gave up 4 runs on 4 hits while striking out 1 and walking 4.

Schmidt, Radke and Matt Bauer led the 10 hit Panther attack with 2 hits each. The other hits were recorded by Paul Carlson, Anthony Dolan, Taylor Rignell and Isaac Dolan.

TMB 13- Dawson-Boyd 2

On Thursday the Panther baseball team won over Dawson-Boyd 13-2 at Dawson. The win improved Tracy/Milroy/Balaton’s season record to 4-1 and they are now 2-0 in the Camden Conference.

“For the second game in a row we hit the ball well and got good pitching,” said Panther Coach Bill Tauer. “Add to that mix and we have now played two games in a row without an error. With that combination we could win a lot of games.”

Derek Daniels started on the mound for T/M/B and got the win. He pitched 3 innings and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 3 and walking 1. Luke Walling came on in the fourth inning and pitched the last 2 innings giving up 2 runs (both unearned) on 1 hit while striking out 3 and walking 1.

Matt Bauer went 4 for 4 with 3 RBI, Anthony Dolan went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI and Kirby Ahrens was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI to pace the 14 hit Panther attack. The game was halted by the ten run rule after 5 innings.
