Cole Cooreman notches 100th as TMB beats Dawson-Boyd

The Panther wrestling team downed Dawson-Boyd 40-22 in a conference dual meet at Tracy Thursday night. The win improved Tracy/Milroy/Balaton’s season dual meet record to 11-0 for the season. Cole Cooreman, ranked tenth in the state in Class AA at 125 pounds, registered his 100th career victory when he pinned Doug Sharar in 0:15.

The win was very much in doubt when the Blackjacks closed the score to 28-22 with a pin in the 189 pound match. However the Panthers’ Tyler Bauer came out very aggressively in his 215 pound match and pinned his opponent in 2:53 to seal the win.

Twisters kick up their heels

The Tracy Area High School Twisters danced their way to three trophies Saturday.

Competing in front of a capacity crowd in the TAHS gym, the Twisters captured first place in the Class A jazz funk competition. The Twisters also earned a third place Class A trophy in precision high-kick, and a first-place in junior varsity high-kick competition.

Canby won the Class A varsity high kick, wall five judges in sweeping the varsity jazz-funk event. Jackson County Central was second, with Waterville-Elysian-Morristown claiming third.

Worthington, the only Class AA school, took first-place honors in their division.

Other competing schools were Wabasso, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, and Lakeview. The Twisters were the only Class A team to compete in both high kick and jazz funk varsity competition. Twister dance team members are: Eline Pauwels, Ann Byrne, Allison Rasmussen, Elizabeth Rayman, Paige Hansen, Ashley Knott, Maria Schmidt, Kathryn Baskerville, Kylie Meyer, Samantha Meyer, Megan Gilmore Ashley Hedges, Alexis Horner, Stephanie Jacob, Kayla Lanoue, Arlin Bautista, Victoria Lau, Megan VanEssen, Monica Pryzybilla. Vicki Vandendriessche and Jodi Johnson are the Twisters’ coaches.

The Twisters’ next competition is Saturday at New London-Spicer.


Panther girls over Ellsworth 68-62 Tuesday

The Panther girls’ basketball team avenged an early season conference loss to Ellsworth by winning at Ellsworth Tuesday night 68-62. The win improved Tracy/Milroy/Balaton’s season record to 5-7 and to 3-4 in the Camden Conference South. Ellsworth dropped to 4-7 and to 2-5 in the conference.

“We had a lot of players contribute offensively, which was very nice to see,” said Panther Coach Ric Haberman. “The game was tied 62-62 and we scored the final 6 points of the game. It was a hard earned victory.”

Emily Miller led the offense with 18 points and she also had 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Alyssa Kirk and Mallory Fultz each had 15 points and 5 rebounds and Kirk also had 2 steals. Jackie Haecherl had 6 points and 3 assists and Krysta Tholen had 8 points and 2 steals.

T/M/B had 28 rebounds to 24 for the home team, 11 assists to 13, 6 steals to 11, 1 block to 0 and turned the ball over 14 times to 21 for Ellsworth.
