Gerald Bassett, 90
Funeral Services for Gerald
Joseph Basset were held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN on
Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. James Seitz
officiating. The organist was Patty LeClaire. The song leader was Kathy Jo Johns. The
pallbearers are Eric Bassett, Chuck Bassett, Ronnie Bassett, Jennifer Donahue,
Liz Gawel, Jessica Bassett Gibson and Buffy Glowinke. The honorary
pallbearers are Dave Bassett, Randy Bassett, Don Bassett, Dean Bassett, Art
Boisvert and Ed Donahue. Interment as at Calvary Cemetery Currie, MN.
Jerry Bassett was born on
March 13, 1922 on the family farm west of Currie, Minnesota. He was the eighth
of nine children born to Peter and Lydia LaPlante Bassett. He grew up on
the family farm and attended country school.
On January 29, 1945 he and
Beatrice Ward were married at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie,
MN. Following their marriage they lived with Jerry’s parents for a time
before taking over the family farm. In 1987, they retired and moved to a
home on Lake Shetek where they spent their summers. Their winters were
spent in Mesa, AZ. In 2009 they sold the lake home and moved to
Currie.
Jerry passed away on December
6, 2012 at A Lot of Care Hospice in Mesa, AZ at the age of 90 after suffering a
stroke on November 3, 2012.
Jerry was a lifelong member of
Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie where he served as usher. He
also was active with Currie Town and Country and The Farm Bureau. Jerry
enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing,
bowling, golfing and playing cards. Jerry was proud to be a lifelong
resident of Currie.
Survivors include his wife,
Beatrice Bassett of Currie, MN, six children and their spouses, Carol and Art
Boisvert of St. George, UT, Linda and Ed Donahue of Burnsville, MN, David and
Shelly Bassett of Currie, MN, Randy and Sharon Bassett of Currie, MN, Don and
Karen Bassett of Fridley, MN and Dean Bassett of Phoenix, AZ, 15 grandchildren,
eight step-grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one brother, Colbert
(Corky) Bassett of Worthington, MN.
He is preceded in death by his
parents, two older brothers, two brothers, Raymond and Peter Bassett, and three
sisters, Ursula Daly, Priscilla McNulty and Francille Scott.

Robert Holden, 78
Robert E. Holden, 78, of
Spicer, died Saturday, December 15, at Glen Oaks Care Center in New London.
Memorial services will be
11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Interment
will be at Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery in Kandiyohi at a later date. Visitation
will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral arrangements are
with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Robert was born February 8,
1934, in Tracy, Minnesota, the son of Vernon and Aldora (Engen) Holden. He grew
up and received his education in Tracy, Minnesota, graduating from Tracy High
School in 1953.
He married Virginia Hewett on
October 29, 1955 in Tracy. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Education
from Bemidji State in 1976. He taught English at several high schools in
Minnesota. He obtained his Masters Degree in Education from Mankato State in
1986. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events
and activities.
He is survived by his sons,
Timothy Holden of Lake Lillian and Michael (and Patricia) Holden of Spicer;
four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by
his parents; his wife, Virginia in 1993; his brother: Clinton Holden; and a
nephew, Chuck Holden.
Edith Holstein, 85
Edith Holstein, age 85, of
Marshall, passed away at Avera Morningside Heights Nursing Home on Monday,
December 10, 2012. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December

Edith Irene was born on April
2, 1927 in Whiting, Iowa to Theodore Roosevelt “Ted” and Blanche Violet
(Poland) Heck. As a young girl, she and her family moved to South Dakota
and then to Minnesota. She was baptized at Tracy United Methodist Church.
On February 5, 1950, Edith was
united in marriage to Ruben Holstein at Tracy United Methodist Church. After
the couple’s marriage, they lived on a farm northeast of Tracy in Springdale
Township, Redwood County. To this union two daughters were born. Edith was a
farm wife and mother and was employed as a school cook at Tracy Elementary
School for eighteen years. The couple moved to Marshall upon their retirement
in 1988. Edith then became a Taste Tester for Schwans Foods for nearly twenty
years. She also served as an election judge. In 1991, she and her sister, Ruth both
earned their GED’s.
During her life, Edith and her
sister Ruth enjoyed creating ceramics and together they attended many craft
shows and seminars in Southwest MN and Sioux Falls, SD. Edith and Ruben also
enjoyed trips to area casinos and attending their granddaughters’ sporting
events.
Edith passed away at Avera
Morningside Heights Nursing Home on Monday, December 10, 2012. She had reached
the age of 85 years, 8 months and 8 days.
Edith is survived by her two
daughters, Susan (and Elton) Goeman, of Jeffers and Sharon Johnson (and Howard
Siegel) of San Diego, CA; two granddaughters, Erin Goeman and Crystal (and
Charles) Simpson, all of Buffalo, NY; two great-granddaughters, Simona Tenorio
and Molly Simpson, of Buffalo; and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Ruben in November 2011; her parents; sister, Ruth Hendrickson
Gunlogson; and nephew, Robert Hendrickson.
Edith was a member of Wesley
United Methodist Church at the time of her death.

Gregory Jacques Lecuyer, 38
Gregory Jacques Lecuyer died
unexpectedly on Dec. 12, 2012. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Sat., Dec. 22 at St. Andrew Lutheran
Church, 13600 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie, MN.
Gregory was born on March 26,
1974. He is survived by his wife
Adrianne Domina Lecuyer, his two children Theo and Kian.
