Dale Scott, 83

Dale H. Scott age 83, of Garvin, MN, died Saturday, September 7, 2013  at the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 13, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy.  Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a Rosary at 5:00 PM and a prayer service at 7:00 PM.  Interment will  be in the Calvary Cemetery in Tracy, with a luncheon served immediately following the burial.  The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.  Online condolences may be placed at www.almliefh.com.

Dale Howard Scott was born June 24, 1930 to Willis and Gladys (Makovsky) Scott in Tracy, MN, Lyon County.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended Country School District #36, before attending Tracy Public Schools, graduating from Tracy High School in 1948.  He was awarded the Star Farmer Award in FFA while in high school.  Dale entered the Minnesota National Guard in 1947 and served until January of 1951 when he enlisted into the U.S. Army.  He received his honorable discharge in November of 1951 and returned to the Tracy area.

On January 8, 1951 Dale married Doris Kosse at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy, and they made their home at Camp Rucker, AL until his discharge.  They lived north of Tracy on a farm until 1959, when they moving to a farm they rented near Garvin, MN.  Then in the fall of 1966 they bought their current farm east of Garvin.  Dale farmed until his health forced him to retire in 2008, when he became a resident of the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy.

A farmer his whole life, Dale enjoyed raising cattle, John Deere equipment, and working on his equipment when it needed repair.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, especially ice fishing, and Charlie Pride’s music.  In the past, he served on the Garvin Elevator Board and the ASC Board.  Dale was a current member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy and a past member of the Catholic Foresters and the Holy Name Society. 

On Saturday, September 7, 2013 Dale died, surrounded by his loving family, at the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy, at the age of 83.

Dale is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Doris Scott of Garvin, MN; one son, Chuck (special friend, Judy Buck) Scott of Balaton, MN; three daughters, Debra Tanghe-Dale of Marshall, MN, LeAnne (Jim) McMahon and Christine (Kevin) Lanners, both of Tracy, MN; nineteen grandchildren; thirty four great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dolly Scott of Tracy, MN; nieces, nephews and friends.

His parents, Willis and Gladys Scott, daughter, Loretta, son, Robert, one infant sister, and one brother, Donald Scott preceded him in death.
