Evelyn Julia Marks, 92, of Milroy, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Wednesday also at the church with a CCW rosary at 5:00 PM and a parish prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family.
Evelyn Julia (Zajic) Marks was born on October 6, 1924 on a farm in Granite Rock Township near Lucan, MN to Henry and Mary (Hlavka) Zajic. She attended country school District #79. Evelyn married Ray Marks on June 11, 1945 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan. She was a faithful member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy and Council Of Catholic Women, as well as a long time member of the Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, crafts, puzzles, reading and quilting, especially making quilts for the missions. In addition to helping with the family farm, Evelyn worked at the Best Western and Senior Center in Marshall. Evelyn loved people and left an impact on many with her generous, kind fun-loving spirit.
On Saturday, January 21, 2017, Evelyn passed away at the Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall at the age of 92.
She is survived by her children Roger (Delores) of Brainerd, Thomas of Milroy, Steven (Kathy) of Northfield, Jerold of Marshall, James (Sue) of Tracy, Kenny of Detroit Lakes, Mary (Robert) of Owatonna and Catherine (Nathan) of Osseo; 22 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; and her brother Jerry (Bev) Zajic of Forest Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Henry, her husband Ray, sons David and Leonard, brothers Al, Henry, Leo and Ray and sisters Mary Ann Weinztl and Henrietta Coates.
