Dereck Ellingson will be representing the Panther wrestling program in the state Class AA wrestling tournament at the Xcel Energy Center this week. A send-off for Ellingson is planned at the high school at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
The TAHS sophomore is scheduled for his first match at 11 a.m. Friday at the Xcel Center in St. Paul. Ellingson, who brings a 33-4 record to state and is the 120-pound class runner-up in Section 3AA, will square off against Cade Lundeen of Thief River Falls. Lundeen, who is also a sophomore, is 35-6 and the Section 8AA champion.
A state send-off for Ellingson is planned Thursday morning at TAHS. State tournament updates for Ellingson will be posted on the Panthers’ wrestling Facebook page (tmbwwgpanthers), and on twitter (@tmbwwgwrestling).
Class AA individual championship quarterfinals begin at 5 p.m. Friday, with wrestlebacks slated for 7 p.m.
Consolation wrestlebacks continue at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, with third- and fifth-place matches at 4 p.m. Saturday, and championship matches starting at 6:30 p.m.
