The Tracy Sportsmen’s Show originally planned for April 29-30 will not be held.
Kim Roggatz, Tracy Chamber of Commerce director, notified sponsors and vendors of the cancellation on Thursday. Organizers felt that an insufficient number of vendors had been lined up for a successful show.
“The show couldn’t secure enough vendors …t o make the show worth it for our attendees, vendors, and sponsors…” Roggatz announced in an email.
Instead, plans are being made to regroup and host the outdoors show again in the spring of 2018.
Roggatz indicates that several ideas, including a different date, are being considered for revitalizing the show for next year.
“Refreshing this show is what we all feel is necessary for it to continue for years to come,” the Chamber administrator said.
The Spring Sportsmen’s Show has become an annual tradition in Tracy. Most years the event has been held downtown at the Veterans’ Memorial Center, with outside exhibits and food vendors spilling onto Morgan Street and the municipal parking lot. Tracy Area High School was a venue for several years as well.
“It’s been a great event for Tracy that’s brought a lot of people to town,” said Roggatz. Committee members, she said, “already have some great ideas” for the show next year.
Last year’s outdoors show attracted about 50 vendors and 730 admissions.
The show’s planning committee welcomes new members and ideas, Roggatz said. For more information, people can call the Chamber at 629-4021.
