Marie Clara Siebel, 91, of Waterloo, died Friday, March 17, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, Waterloo, IA.
She was born Sept. 3, 1925 in Bowdle, South Dakota, daughter of Robert and Anna Wagner Wirtz. She married John A. Siebel on June 23, 1943 in Raymond. He died Oct. 25, 1994.
Marie retired from retail in 1980, having worked at Eagle Center Tap, K-Mart, Jean Nicole, Sam’s Club and Hy-Vee.
She was very involved at St. Mary’s of Mt. Carmel as Past President of the Rosary Society, Guild Leader and volunteer for funeral dinners and celebrations held at the church. Marie was also a die-hard Cub fan and supporter of Don Bosco .
Survived by: a son, Gary (Diana) Siebel of Waterloo; six daughters, Dianne (Terry) Reiter and Julie (Don) Trebon, all of Waterloo; Linda (Rick) Rhoads and Marlene (Don) Loveless, all of La Porte City; Charlene (Mike) Wambold of North Platte, Neb.; and Deb (Tom) Hesse of Tracy, Minn. ; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a great-great-grandchild and three step-great-great-grandchildren;
Preceded in death by: her husband; a great-grandson, Ethan Cole; 10 siblings.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 25 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery, Eagle Center. Public visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
