The long, winding road of underground infrastructure construction continues in northeast Tracy.
After a break Monday and Tuesday for the Fourth of July celebration, work is drawing closer to the next phase of construction along Hollett Street East from the Fourth St. East intersection.
A temporary shut off in water services is planned Thursday, July 6, for houses hooked up to a temporary, above ground water system, as well as houses to the south, east, and west of the Fourth St. East and Hollett St. East intersection.
According to a construction newsletter issued Sunday by the ISG engineering firm, “the purpose of the shutdown will be to cut and cap the water main to allow for the next phase of the project area on East Hollett Street.”
Last week, Duininck Inc. crews completed the sanitary sewer and water main installations on Fourth St. East between Circle Drive and Summit Ave. The newsletter reported that water and sewer mains on Fourth St. East had been finished past Summit Ave., with “testing on Fourth St. East next week with the goal of beginning grading work on the road the following week.” Work remains between Summit and East Hollett. Earlier, underground work was completed on Circle Drive, allowing homes to be switched back onto city water mains. A lift station on Circle Drive has been eliminated.
The construction newsletter stated that excavations on Fourth St. East involved “some of the deepest digging on the project. Residents should be aware that if it seems progress is going slowly it is because it takes a long time to install pipe at this depth.”
Homeowners are reminded to remove any plantings from right-of-way prior construction.
