Dorthey Pamp age 91 of Tracy passed away on Monday, August 07, 2017 surrounded by family at her home. Funeral Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Tracy United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery in Custer Township west of Tracy. Dorthey Mae (Evans) Pamp was born January 21, 1926 in Garvin, Minnesota to Roger and Lola (Mottinger) Evans. She attended country school at District #72 on land that her grandfather had donated, and later attended Tracy High School. Dorthey was very athletic and enjoyed playing baseball when she was young.
On February 14, 1942, Dorthey married William “Bill” Pamp in Tracy. They farmed near Slayton but later moved to the Evans’ homestead where they continued farming. The Evans’ homestead has been an active family farm since it was settled in 1868. Dorthey and Bill raised award winning Columbia sheep and Chester White hogs. During their early years, Dorthey and Bill were square dancers and enjoyed roller skating. Dorthey was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years, and served as Worthy Matron. She was a 4H leader and one of the founding ladies of the Wheels Across the Prairie Museum. Dorthey was a member of the Tracy United Methodist Church since December 2, 1951. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was able to trace her ancestry back to the Mayflower. Dorthey enjoyed sewing and was a very talented seamstress. She also worked with her daughter-in-law for over 30 years at Prairie Designs.
Dorthey is survived by her son Doug (Melanie) Pamp of Garvin; grandchildren: Carl Pamp, Jason Pamp, Benjamin (Kate) Pamp, Sarah (David) Brakke; great-grandchildren: Lana & Boden Pamp, and Booker Evans Brakke; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Pamp, and son Charles Pamp.
