As the snow blew into town Thursday morning, so, too, did Santa Claus, who shared a Subway breakfast with 19 lucky Tracy Area Elementary School students before heading back to the North Pole to finish up some last-minute work before the big day. The kids were chosen as part of school program — if they bring an item for the local food shelf, their name goes into a hat, and those chosen get to spend an hour with Santa. The kids got to ask Santa a multitude of questions, such as how he finds his elves, how old he is and how do reindeer fly (if you don’t know, the corn they eat is sprinkled with magic dust). The kids also joined Santa in singing “Jingle Bells.” Above: Kindergartner Kerrigan Knapper tells Santa what she wants for Christmas.
