A housing survey could be arriving in Tracy mailboxes this spring.
The confidential initiative would gather data for a state housing rehabilitation grant and/or other EDA initiatives.
Acting at their March 7 meeting, the Tracy Economic Development Authority asked Jeff Gladis of United Community Action, to begin the grant application process. Gladis administered three previous Small Cities housing grant programs for Tracy in 2007, ‘10, and ‘12. The grants were secured through the Minnesota Dept. of Economic and Employment Development.
The housing survey would be a part of the grant application.
Gladis suggests that a 20 to 25-block area on the west side of Tracy be targeted in the new grant program. Past Small Cities housing programs, have offered forgivable loans and grants, to income-eligible households. Financing can be used for improvements such as roofing, siding, windows, insulation, plumbing, and heating. Only owner-occupied dwellings are eligible for the programs.
