Lexi Erickson slides into director’s role

Not even her birthday ranks as high as Box Car Days weekend for Lexi Erickson, and now she’ll have some major influence on Tracy’s biggest event.
Erickson, a 2011 graduate of Tracy Area High School, has succeeded Brittany Larson as Chamber director. Her first day was Monday, Oct. 29.
“Box Car Days, ever since I was little, has been my favorite thing,” Erickson said. “It still is. It’s right above my birthday. There’s always that fear that I won’t be able to enjoy it, but I‘d like to think I’ll be able to enjoy it even more and see more of it now, rather than just partaking in it. With me loving Box Car Days and having respect for it, it won’t be a job.”
Larson has accepted a position as a Digital Project Coordinator in Minneapolis at OptumCare on its marketing team.
Chamber President Greg Carlson said Erickson has an outgoing personality that will serve her well as Chamber director.
“She is not afraid to get things done,” he said. “I think her personality is such that if something’s not going the way she hoped it would, she’ll let you know about it. That’s a good trait.”
Erickson said she certainly is a “people person” and looks forward to using her personality in her new job.
“Growing up, I was involved in a lot of activities, I was president of different groups and studying business, I think that pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me to be even more of a people person.”
Like Larson, Carlson said, Erickson’s knowledge of the community will go a long way in helping her find her way in her new position. She understands what it’s like to live in a small community and some of the things that need to get done, he said.
“I think she has a great understanding of some of the events we put on,” Carlson said. “I think that will help her as she progresses through her new role. We’re happy to have her and happy that she’s willing to step in,” he said.
