The seven-member Tracy City Council that voters okayed last week will go into effect with the 2020 general election.
An amendment to the city’s charter, authorizing two additional city council members was approved by a 440 to 274 margin in the Nov. 6 general election. Tuesday night, the council had to decide whether the two additional council seats should be filled by immediate appointment, a special election, or the 2020 general election.
The council agreed to add the extra council seats in the 2020 election, with extra two-year and four-year terms added to the ballot.
