A major winter storm was heading for the region as this week’s edition of the Headlight-Herald went to press. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the region beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 26).
The possibility of heavy snow and strong winds was forecast to continue through Thursday. The weather system could produce both rain and snow, as well as wind gusts over 30 mph.
The area did enjoy dry and mild weather through Christmas Day. Temperatures did not rise above freezing on just one day between Dec. 13 and Dec. 22.
