Janet Timmerman will be honored in a big way later this month for her work in preserving Murray County history
Janet Timmerman is honored to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums, but by no means does that mean she’s done chronicling local history.
Timmerman will be one of eight people honored by the Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums at its Annual Meeting and Conference on April 25.
“It was unexpected. Part of me was a little disheartened — does this mean that I don’t have to achieve anything anymore?” Timmerman laughed. “I’m just getting started. I talked to Jan Louwagie and told her that I don’t feel like I should be getting this kind of award. I think of all the other people who have gotten this. Some of these people have worked in their place for 35 or 40 years, and I’ve been all over the place — four years here, five years there … ”
