More than 110 to attend this year’s event; Grand March starts at 7:30 p.m.
This year’s high school prom is going rustic.
“Rustic Romance” is the theme for the May 4-5 event that will include 114 students taking part in the big night, which includes a dinner, grand march, dance and the popular after-prom event.
The grand march will commence at 7:30 p.m., with the dance going from 9:30 p.m.-midnight. The after-prom party will be from midnight-5 a.m. at the high school. After-prom is a lock-in event that is funded by donations and money raised by juniors and seniors and their parents.
After-prom includes a midnight meal, with games starting at 12:15 a.m. Activities include bingo, volleyball, knocker balls, bean bags, ping-pong, casino tables and an Amazing Race Team Challenge. There will also be a coffee bar, and a dee-jay and hypnotist will be there to entertain the kids.
“This is a great way for the upper classmen and their guests to complete their school year,” said Diann Timmerman, prom committee lead. “There will be about 80% of the junior and senior class attending this event.”
Timmerman said planning for prom weekend begins each fall with the start of a new school year.
“The parent volunteers are greatly appreciated, and without them, there would be no after-prom event for our students,” she said.
