There are few people in town busier than Police Chief Jason Lichty.
The Tracy Police Department is currently operating with the chief, one full-time officer and one part-time officer. But despite the increased pressure on the current police officers, the need does not outweigh the importance of finding the right people for the job.
“We didn’t feel that either candidate was suited to work for us,” Lichty said. “We want to hire someone who is going to be a good fit for the position.”
The City is currently advertising for one full-time and one part-time position on the force.
Lichty said the Police Commission wrapped up a hiring process on April 19, but found no suitable candidates. Lichty said two new candidates will be going through testing later this week.
