Funeral Services for Wayne Peterson, will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dale Degner officiating. The organist is Brenda Whitehead. The pallbearers are Doug Schuttler, Alan Olson, Mylan Ray Oldewurtel, Leroy Kalass, Gary Peterson and David Peterson. Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN.

Wayne Maynard Peterson was born on February 6, 1954 in Slayton, Minnesota to Maynard and Donna Jeanne Larson Peterson. He grew up on the family farm near Garvin, MN and graduated from Slayton High School in 1972. Following high school Wayne moved to Marshall, MN and worked for Schwans.
On July 3, 1976 he and Lena Christians were married in Balaton, MN. Following their marriage they made their home in Marshall until 1990 when they moved to Springfield, OR where Wayne drove truck. In 1997 he and Lena divorced and Wayne moved to Creswell, OR. Wayne retired in 2010 from trucking and in 2013 moved to Phoenix, AZ. In 2016 he returned to Minnesota and settled in Marshall.
Wayne passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at the Pipestone Hospice Home after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 65.
Wayne was a member of Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited and Shades of the Past Car Club. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, car shows, collecting John Deere items and hats, and following the band Foreplay.
Survivors include his three children and their spouses, Dana Peterson and Ted Williams of Veneta, OR, Sonja and Troy Haugen Amiret, MN, and Travis and Ashley Peterson of Marshall, MN, ten grandchildren, Taylor Petersen, Savannah Petersen, Kira Lang, Kaily Timmons, Makena Haugen, Jadyn Haugen, Jordan Haugen, and Kegan, Kaden and Maleia Peterson, three siblings, Sharon and Al Thom of Crown Point, IN, Valinda Peterson of Excelsior, MN, and Dawn and Craig Christensen of Slayton, MN, step sister-in-law, Sue Olson of Marshall, MN, and several niece and nephews and their families.
He is preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Jean Peterson, infant grandson, Evan Haugen, infant sister, Linda Jean Peterson, sister, Lynelle Spain, Step brother, Terry Olson, and grandparents, Ole and Gelena Peterson and Dr. L.M and Bertha Larson.
