Kenneth James Herrmann, 87, of Willmar, died Monday, October 28th at North Memorial Hospital. His funeral will be 10:30 am, Saturday, November 2nd at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar with burial to follow in Slayton Memorial Gardens. Kenneth was born October 6, 1932, on a farm near Balaton, MN, the son of Leonard and Maude (Kennedy) Herrmann. He grew up near Balaton and graduated from Balaton High School in 1950. He enlisted into the United States Army serving in Greenland until his honorable discharge. Following his discharge, he returned to Balaton and helped his parents on the farm. Kenneth always looked for a new adventure working as an insurance agent, sold cars, managed a bar in Garvin as well as the VFW Club and even worked for CropMate.
On June 21, 1983, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Dickey Jurgens in Reno, Nevada. They lived in Tracy before moving to Willmar in 1986. In retirement, Kenneth worked for Runnings for a number of years.
Kenneth enjoyed tinkering, camping, collecting various items, cars and of course coffee at Cub Foods.
Surviving are his children: Craig Jurgens of Eugene, OR; Cherie (and Chuck) Hunter of Troy, MO; and Janette (and Ron McKenzie) Jurgens of Marshall, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dorothy, on February 25, 2008, and siblings: Merlin Herrmann, Marian Hanson and Evelyn McKenzie.
