SFC Charles E. Klein, Jr., US Army, Ret., age, 70, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020, in Temple, TX. Graveside Services will be at 9:00 AM, Friday, January 24, 2020, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Chuck was born on September 30, 1949, in Tracy, MN to the late Charles Eugene Klein, Sr., and Anna Dobias Klein. He was proud to have been raised on a farm and where he learned valuable lifelong skills. He graduated from Marshall High School in Marshall, MN. He joined the United States Air Force and served for eight years before joining the United States Army and retired after 14 years with 24 combined years of service. On February 5, 1972, he married Un-Hui Yi in Montana. Chuck received a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology while stationed at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. After his military retirement, they moved to Pierce County, Washington. Chuck worked a medical transport company in Washington for over 10 years. In 2017, they moved back to the Fort Hood area. Chuck loved to be outdoors and would often ride his bike to run errands. He was a kind man and a friend to all he met. Chuck took great joy in helping others, drinking Dr. Pepper, eating vanilla ice cream and white powder donuts.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Klein and a sister, Evelyn Nauman.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 47 years, Un-Hui Klein; one sister; and five brothers. He is also survived by an adopted granddaughter, Esther Fritz.
