A third person from Lyon County has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.
It is the third confirmed coronavirus case this week; the first was Tuesday, followed by a second Wednesday.
There is also a confirmed case in Lincoln and Yellow Medicine counties.
“We know it’s already been circulating, and that it is picking up now,” Lauren Mellenthin, emergency preparedness coordinator with Southwest Health and Human Services, said Wednesday. “We just never know when we will get confirmations.”
SWHHS covers Lyon, Lincoln, Murray, Pipestone, Redwood and Rock counties.
As of 12:50 p.m. Thursday, there were 742 positive confirmed COVID-19 cases in Minnesota, and 18 deaths. The number of patients who no longer need to be isolated is 373.
