Services for June Gilb, 77, of Walnut Grove, were held Thursday, June 25, 2020, at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Tracy. A private family interment took place prior to the service.
June Esther (Wegner) Gilb was born on a farm in Johnsonville Township, rural Lucan, MN, on March 1, 1943. She was the youngest of three girls born to Fred and Hilda (Siedshlag) Wegner. She was baptized and confirmed at Johnsonville Trinity Church. June attended District #14 country school in rural Vesta, Lucan Public School, and graduated from Milroy Public School. June was united in marriage to Kenneth Gilb on April 19, 1961, at Johnsonville Trinity Church.
June worked eight years at Swift’s Plant, one year at Alco, and seventeen and a half years at Schwan’s, all of Marshall; as well as being active in family farming. She held various positions in her churches, enjoyed country music, writing, dancing, decorating, coffee with friends, being outside, helping others, time with family, and was a good listener.
June died on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Our House of Murray County in Slayton, MN. She is survived by her son Todd (Lori) Gilb of Walnut Grove, daughters Kori (Bill) Robinson of Slayton, Dawn Giese of Albert Lea, and Debi (Jeff) Holloway of Dahlonega, GA; seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; and sisters Jean Kahnke of Courtland and Joan Lanoue of Marshall. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth in 1998, and daughter Jodi in 2014.
