Robert Sherman, a former resident of Tracy, died in Sacramento, CA, early July 28, 2020.
He was born in Tracy to C. Earl and Henrietta Sherman. He attended Tracy schools and graduated in 1947.
On February 4, 1949, Bob, Wayne Elliot, and Joe West joined the Marine Corps. Bob fought in the Korean War and was one of the survivors of the battle at the Chosin Reservoir. He returned home and married Virginia Piper in April 1953. Bob and Virginia soon moved to California where Bob began working as a carpenter’s apprentice. He would spend the next 40 years doing mostly commercial work. Most of his projects are still standing to this day and provide great pride to his family.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings: Rosetta, Fern, Clifford, Donna Mae, Phyllis, and Joanne.
He is survived by his loving wife Virginia of 67 years; 4 children: Michael (Kitty), David (Sandy), Steven (Linda), and Nancy; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Bob devoted his entire life to his family and he will be dearly missed.
