A special Dolans-to-Dolans ‘first pitch’ appropriately opened the Class C Minnesota State Amateur Baseball Tournament in Milroy on Friday

For the record, Lori Dolan threw a perfect strike, while her husband, Pat, tossed ball one.
“Yes, I’ve had a number of people tell me that already,” laughed Pat, who along with his wife, Lori, threw out the first pitches to their sons, Jeff and Brian, to open the Class C Minnesota State Amateur Baseball Tournament in Milroy on Friday.
“It was wonderful, it brought tears to my eyes,” Lori said. “It’s a culmination of three, four weeks of really working hard to get ready, and now it’s here and we’re so excited. After we had our children, and since our grandchildren have been born, this is the next best thing to happen!”
As longtime public address announcer Don Schmidt put it during his pre-game introduction, Lori and Pat “have lived and breathed Milroy baseball for decades. Without them, Milroy baseball, and area baseball would not be the same. Through their dedication and perseverance, Milroy baseball has continued to thrive, and holding this Minnesota Amateur Baseball Tournament is the pinnacle.”
With that, Lori, Pat, Jeff and Brian took the perfectly-manicured field to do the honors.
