Rolland Lionel Moore, 91, died peacefully on December 23, 2020 at his home in Loveland, Colorado. He celebrated his 91st birthday on December 21. He had a good sense of humor and jokingly shared that nobody else in his family had made it to 91 years old and if he did, than he would “win”…and, he won!
Rolland was born in 1929 in Minnesota. He was the second child of Ray and Hallie Moore, who lived on their family farm. He graduated high school and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He married Lillian in 1951 at Willow Lake Lutheran Church in Tracy, Minnesota. After their marriage, they moved to Loveland in 1961, choosing the area because of the view and proximity to the mountains. Rolland married Laura in 2002.
Rolland was preceded in death by his first wife Lillian, two infant daughters Linda and Nancy, and son, Douglas. He is survived by his loving wife Laura; his children: daughter Kathy, son Bradley, and son Jeffrey and his wife Kerri; stepdaughters Kari and her husband, Dave, and Cheryl; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is also survived by his siblings Del, Doreen (Wayne), Carole, and Diane (Terry).
Rolland started his building career in 1949, working as a carpenter and mason. He later owned his own business as a general contractor from 1976-1993, working with his son Jeff. After retirement, he enjoyed and always had a list of projects that continued until the time he passed. He crafted numerous woodworking and furniture gifts for family and friends. He enjoyed family travels, spending time at the mountain cabin west of Loveland, visiting with friends and family, getting together to play cards and dice and share his “stories” of family history. He was a faithful man to God and to his family, and attending church was an important part of their lives. Rolland generously and consistently gave others the benefit of the doubt; always acknowledging the good in others.
Funeral for family and friends was held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 3411 S. Taft Ave., Loveland, CO 80537, and was followed by internment at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 8426 US-287, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Loveland.
