Jim Guimond, 74, of Webster, MN passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Minneapolis Veterans Hospital.
Jim was born on October 22, 1946 in Tracy, Mn to Leo and Elsie (Buzzell) Guimond.
After graduation from high school, Jim joined the Navy in October 1964 and went through boot camp at the Naval Training Center in San Diego, California and completed the Electrician s Mate, Class A, Service School Command. From there he was in and around the waters in Viet Nam on the U.S.S. Tawakoni.
After the Navy, Jim worked as an electrician in South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia for Collier Construction and Davidson Electrical until he decided to move to Webster, MN in 2003 where he became very involved with his church with various outreach programs and helping other Viet Nam Veterans through bible studies and food shelf distribution.
Survivors are his daughter, Shelley (Steve) Brown, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, grandchildren Steven (Ashlee) of Blue Ridge, Georgia, and Dylan (Mallory), of Dawsonville, Georgia. Great grandchildren Lou Anna Brown and Hadlee Patterson also of Blue Ridge, Georgia, and special friends Lisa Klossner of Lonsdale, Mn, and Marty Brown of Blue Ridge, Georgia, brothers Francis (Esther) of Warrenton, VA, David (Barb) of Bloomington, MN, and sister Mary Olson (Joel) of Webster, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceeded in death by his parents Leo and Elsie (Buzzell) Guimond, his brothers Joe and Denny and sister Ruth Carroll, sister-in-law Morene Haney and brother-in-law, Ewell Carroll.
A celebration of life was held on May 5, 2021 at Hillspring Church in New Prague.
