Tracy City Administrator Erik Hansen is a finalist for Winona County’s top position.
According to the Winona Post, Hansen will be interviewed along with five other finalists on Jan. 6; the county board could make a decision later that day, or the following day at the latest.
“It’s a bigger jurisdiction,” Hansen said Tuesday. “There would be more challenges for me professionally. It’s an opportunity for me to grow as a professional — that’s really what it boils down to.”
Hansen, whose two-year contract with the City of Tracy is up in March, was also a finalist for the city manager position in Sterling, CO, back in July 2021. He said reaching out to other communities for a career move is strictly for professional reasons and has nothing to do with his commitment to the city he currently serves.
“I really feel a lot of fondness for Tracy,” he said. “This is not an anti-Tracy thing; I really feel strongly about this community and I am absolutely committed to the work that I am doing. If this were to happen, it would be for professional reasons and the ability to grow in my career.”
