Tom Dobson was appointed Monday by the Tracy City Council to fill the council seat left vacant by the departure of Kou Thao, whose resignation from the council was effective July 5.
Dobson will fill the seat until the Nov. 8 election, when a special election will take place to finish out the remainder of Thao’s term (two years). He will be eligible to run for the remainder of the term.
Besides that seat, there will be three up for election in November; those are currently held by Ron Koopman, Jeri Schons and Dave Tiegs. The mayor’s seat will also be up for election.
Dobson was one of two Tracy residents to apply for the position. The other was former mayor and council member Tony Peterson.
