The Title I grant for Tracy Area Elementary School has been completed, TAES Principal Michael Munson reported at Monday’s District No. 2904 School Board meeting.
Because of the school’s percentage of Free & Reduced Lunch, the school is still considered a Schoolwide program (no Targeted Assistance).
The school’s Free & Reduced lunch count number last year (37.5%) was the lowest it has ever been, Munson said. That number will go back to normal now that students need to pay for lunches.
“We haven’t been below 50%, ever,” TAES Principal Michael Munson said. “Everybody got free lunches the last two years, so people did not have to apply, even though we kept pushing and pushing to apply for this. But there was no reason to apply for this because everyone was getting free lunches.”
TAES will receive $149,205.22 for Title I, while St. Mary’s School gets $16,437.86.
All of the funds for TAES will be used to pay its Title Math and Reading teachers (75% of salary and benefits).
