David Swenhaugen was born March 27, 1960 to Cletus and Gelaine (Peterson) Swenhaugen in Slayton. He was baptized in the Catholic faith and graduated from Walnut Grove High School. David married Cindy Taylor August 27, 1977 and together they raised 5 sons. David loved his family first; he loved his job and customers. He enjoyed hobby farming and helping the neighbors. He teased everyone, making us all laugh. David never talked negatively to anyone. He made amazing breakfasts on the grill. When the Vikings were losing, he’d make Monster Cookies at halftime. He loved watching the grandchildren play basketball, volleyball and football. David was the most kind, gentle and considerate husband you could ask for. He was a caring father and grandfather. You could often find David tinkering on things in the shop, watching grandchildren’s activities and mowing lawn. He delighted in going out to eat, camping and vacationing.
David is survived by his wife Cindy; his children: Joseph (Carla), Joshua (Sara), Justin (Jessica), Jacob (Alicia) and John (Chelsea); grandchildren: Brett, Kalli, Noah, Cade, Aidan, Brooke, Chanse, Dominic, Katelyn, Taylor, Ava, Jared, Audra, and Cameron; great grandchild Drew; and special family friend Janet Putte; siblings: Thomas, Michelle, Darcy, Lisa, Lori; and in-laws: Nancy Rasmussen, Charles and Jerry Taylor. He is preceded in death by his parents Cletus and Gelaine; parents-in-law Clara and Dale Taylor; brother-in-law Jack Taylor; and sister-in-law Janice Marsh.
