P.J. & the Sleepers.
The Sensational Sleepers.
Ring any bells?
It has been decades since a group of music makers played school dances in Tracy on their rise to local stardom, but later this month, one of the members of the 1960’s group will be back in town to perform at the Tracy’s Got Talent Variety Show & Silent Auction, a program that will serve as a fundraiser for a new community center in Tracy.
That man is Gary Rue, who along with Steve Thielges, Randy Drager, Mike Burt and Dennis Morgan, collaborated to form the well-known quintet in the fall of 1964 that would go on to perform at ballrooms and dance halls in the five-state area.
Rue (Tracy High School Class of 1969) will join a cluster of other talented singers for Tracy’s Got Talent, which begins at 2 p.m. on April 30 at The Caboose (doors open at 1 p.m.). Tickets are $20.
