The Tracy City Council on Monday moved to amend a resolution to exclude Greenwood Park from its plans to develop parkland for single-family homes in town.
The council had originally planned to target Greenwood Park, Werner Park and Sebastian Park as three city-owned areas it could use to add housing options to town. Werner Park was removed from that list first, per a request from a city council member, and shortly thereafter, a group of Greenwood area residents expressed their desire to remove from the list Greenwood Park on the west side of town as well.
A petition signed by more than 40 Greenwood area residents to leave the park alone was introduced to the council at the May 22 meeting, and the council responded this week by officially taking the park of its list of potential target areas for a housing project.
