Adolph Arthur Rabe passed away peacefully at Lakewood Hospital in Staples, MN at the age of 82 on Monday July 31, 2023. A Memorial Service for Adolph will be held on Friday August 11, 2023, at the Motley United Methodist Church in Motley, MN at 2:00pm. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the start of the service at the church.
Adolph was born on October 27, 1940, in Westpoint, Nebraska to Dorothy and Emil Rabe. While Adolph’s childhood resulted in many moves to different states and cities, he concluded his early education in 1958 when he graduated from Walnut Grove High School in Walnut Grove, Minnesota. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served for 6 years working in Avionics on aircraft carriers. After being honorably discharged, he attended the University of Minnesota and earned a degree in engineering.
Adolph met the love of his life Margaret “Peggy” Benson in 1963 and united in marriage on February 22, 1964. They were blessed with their daughter, Tovi Michelle, in 1968 and continued to reside in the south suburbs of the Twin Cities. Adolph adored his family and wife Peggy, as they have been married for 59 years.
Adolph had various interests and hobbies consisting of golf, sailing, Canadian fishing trips, riding motorcycle, and escorting Peggy and sister Janice on their bike riding excursions. One of his favorite accomplishments was riding motorcycle for “The Tail of the Dragon” in North Carolina. He was an avid reader, particularly in science fiction and loved spending time in his garage. His occupations included engineering, flight instructing, and being a corporate pilot. Adolph joined the software industry in 1985 and was a consultant until retirement.
After retirement, he continued his service volunteering at Habitat of Humanity, Scandia Valley Lions Club, and other organizations throughout the years. Many could say that Adolph had a calling to serve those around him.
In April of 2000, Adolph was granted his first grandchild Alexander Muma, with his second one, Madelyn Muma, shortly to follow in December of 2001. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed spending most of his retirement attending their activities, traveling with Peggy, and taking his family on numerous vacations.
Adolph is survived by his wife, Peggy, daughter Tovi, son-in-law Jon Muma, grandchildren Alexander and Madelyn, sisters Marie Story, Doreen Steenblock, and Janice Erickson. In addition, many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
He was preceded in death by Mother, Dorothy Rabe, Father, Emil Rabe, Sister, Susan Eidhammer, and Brother-in-law, Dan Steenblock.
