The long-overdue water tower project in Balaton is on track for completion in late August. Sorry, residents, you’re going to have to wait until then to find out what the new version is going to look like.
The J.R. Stelzer Co. out of Lincoln, NE, is finishing up the sand-blasting phase of the project, which began last week, and will soon be priming and painting the tower, depending on weather conditions (dew points and humidity levels mostly). The final color scheme is literally being kept under wraps for now.
“It will be a little different, not dramatically,” said City of Balaton do-it-all Public Works Director Josh Torgeson. “People want to know what color it’s going to be — they’ll just have to wait and see. It’s been a long time coming; people are excited for it. It’s a pretty big deal. It’ll be good to get done.”
