The two finalists for Tracy’s city administrator position interviewed for the second time Monday evening in front of the entire city council.
Each candidate was asked a series of questions (same for both), and council members rated their responses from 1 to 5. It is unclear when the council will make its final decision and offer the position to either candidate. The candidates previously interviewed in front of the search committee, which consists of counsel members Tom Dobson, Jeri Schons and Mayor Pam Cooreman, along with interim City Administrator and Public Works Director Shane Daniels, head librarian Val Quist and business owner Dale Johnson III.
Richard Baker currently serves as the development services coordinator for the City of Plainview, a position he has held since Jan. 18, 2022. Carpenter was hired as the EDA director in Tracy in October 2017. Before that, he worked for Schwan’s for a total of 31 years — 24 in a management position.
