After a 16-minute discussion that included City Attorney Matthew Gross on how best to proceed with filling the vacant city administrator seat, the Tracy City Council on Monday voted to offer the position to current Community Development Director Jeff Carpenter.
The vote was 6-1, with council member Tom Dobson voting no. After the finalists interviews on Aug. 21, Dobson contended that the council re-open the search, while at least three other council members threw their support behind Carpenter. Council member Seth Schmidt made the motion to offer the position to Carpenter, with council member Jan Arvizu seconding.
