Timothy Richard Sell, age 42 of Marshall, passed away suddenly Sunday, September 3, 2023 at his home. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2023 at English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7 at Walnut Grove Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. A private family burial will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery. O

Timothy Richard Sell was born March 12, 1981 to Ric and Lisa (Hoyt) Sell in Marshall, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove. While in high school Tim was part of the school-run club called BOLT enterprises where he helped promote and sell their barbeque sauce. Tim graduated from Westbrook-Walnut Grove High School and continued his education at Southwest State University in Marshall. He worked at Hoyt’s Convenience Store and part-time at Sell Bros. during high school. Tim later worked part-time at Titan Machinery in Marshall and at the SSU student center during college. Numbers came easily to Tim; he was a financial analyst for Schwan’s for 19 years and volunteered his time to oversee the finances for the United Way of Southwest Minnesota. Tim enjoyed traveling and sports, especially volleyball. He was an avid volleyball player and spectator of any level from kids to college. Tim was full of life and always loved music whether it was listening to country music, singing karaoke or attending concerts. He loved his cousins and cherished the time they spent together.
Timothy is survived by his parents Ric & Lisa of Walnut Grove; significant other Dustin Jones of Dell Rapids, SD; aunts & uncles: Deb (Rich) Martius, Kathy (Loren) Knakmuhs, Jim (Lynnelle) Sell, Scott (Vicky) Hoyt and Julie Nelson; cousins: Staci, Ben, Jackie, Ashley, Josh, Jordan, Ty, Drew and Casey; great aunts and uncle: Mary (Gerry) Leonard and Sandy Anderson; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Richard “Bud” & Delores Sell and Lauren & Barbara Hoyt.
