On August 12th, 2023, Richard (Rick) Illg, age 53, passed away at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rick was born in Slayton, MN on November 9th, 1969.
He graduated from Tracy High School in 1988 and Willmar Technical College in 1990, with an AA Degree in Electrical Engineering. Rick enjoyed coaching and attending his children’s sporting events, hunting, fishing, cooking, watching movies, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a gifted problem solver and craftsman who enjoyed taking on projects in his personal life and at work. A tribute to Rick from his family is “Rick was the kindest, most selfless person you could meet, as he thrived on giving back and helping others. His family, friends and community will miss him tremendously.”
He is survived by his mother Theresa, children Bailey and Cade Illg, siblings Julie, Joan (Mike), Randy, Lori, Cindy (Randy), Marie (Brian) and close family friend Toni, as well as many family members and friends who love him dearly and will miss him greatly.
Rick is predeceased by his father Richard and brother Steve. Rick gave in death as he did in life as he was an organ and tissue donor and also chose to help others by donating his body to the U of M Medical School’s Anatomy Bequest Program for education and research. A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held at the End-O-Line park in Currie, MN on October 21 from 2-6 p.m.
