Steven A. Blanchette, age 74 of Tracy, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023 surrounded by family at his home after a short battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 30, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 29, at Tracy Area Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Steven Allen Blanchette was born September 16, 1949 to Archie and Arleen (Buesing) Blanchette in Tracy, Minnesota. He was baptized in the Methodist Church and later joined St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he received the sacraments. In 1967, Steve graduated from Tracy High School. He was drafted to the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Steve then turned the military into his career and served for 33 years. On July 1, 1972, Steve was united in marriage to Kathy St. Aubin at Holy Redeemer in Marshall. Together they made their home near Tracy. They split their time between their home on Lake Shetek and wintered at La Costa Village in Davenport, Florida. Steve worked ten years at the Lyon Co. Sherriff’s Department, was a longtime member of the Tracy American Legion and served on the Tracy Fire Department for 22 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his lake cabin. You could often find him golfing, playing shuffleboard and Cribbage. He loved travelling to Florida, but most importantly he loved spending time with his family.
Steve is survived by his wife Kathy of 51 years; children: Nicole Blanchette of Marshall, Joe (Katie) Blanchette of Prior Lake and Cory Blanchette (April) of Alexandria; grandchildren: Ellie & Hudson and Ryan; his dog Cooper; siblings Marthann Marcotte of Winona, Pati (Howard) Rethemeier of Owatanna and Bill (Marlys) Blanchette of Storden; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Suzanne & Colleen.
