Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Thor (often called “Carl” in his early years) was born on January 5, 1956 to Thor (Robert) and Laverne Burntvedt. His father was involved in sales and in the Army Reserves, and as a result their family moved to different states several times during his childhood. Perhaps this constant moving helped create his sense of adventure/travel. Thor enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle for years across the country. In his retirement years, he traded in his motorcycles for a boat so he could explore the great lakes with friends and live on water. A title even more dear to him than “Captain Thor” was “Professor Thor.” He worked for years in education, teaching marketing and sales related classes at the University of Wisconsin Stout in Menomonie, WI and at Northcentral Technical Institute in Wausau, WI. His influence and friendship with his students throughout the years brought him great joy and a sense of pride.
Thor is survived by his dear older sister: Beth Burntvedt of Green Bay, his two sons: Thor Burntvedt (and wife Abigail) and Haakon Burntvedt, and by his four grandsons: Thorvald CE Burntvedt, Soren Burntvedt, Bjorn Burntvedt, and Oaken Burntvedt.
