Tracy Lanes changing hands

By sheer coincidence, Lonnie Cochran has annually found himself purchasing things for himself on Mother’s Day. It could be a vehicle, or perhaps a tractor. This year, he’s buying a bowling alley.

Lonnie and Jolene Cochran are in the process of purchasing Tracy Lanes — Lyon County’s only bowling alley — from Jeff and Jeanne Knott.

“It seems like every Mother’s Day I buy something for myself,” Lonnie said with a laugh. “I don’t know why, I guess it just works out that way every year.”

Lonnie is no stranger to the sport of bowling, or working at an alley. His path began when he worked for Gary Schaar for some time, and  he’s been working at bowling alleys almost ever since.

“It’s kind of fun circle for me,” he said. “I’ve worked at an alley off and on for most of my life, so I kind of know what’s going on and I like it. I want to see this place stay open.”
